Hey,
Washing a check is important because it allows you to keep the real check, but alter the payee, dollar amount, etc.
First, you need the check that you will be washing. Although it's almost impossible to tell beforehand (as far as I'm aware), you do NOT want checks that are written with gel pens. Ballpoint ink will wash off with ease, whereas gel pen ink will not.
Once you have the check, you will need acetone. Put some acetone in a tupperware container, then place then submerge the check in the acetone. You will see the ink start to wash off immediately. You don't want to leave it completely submerged for too long, otherwise important details may get washed off as well.
After the ink is washed off, you can now change the payee name to match the name of the account that you will be dropping the check in. You can also change the dollar amount, but this isn't recommended unless you can call the bank to verify that the victim has a high enough balance so the check doesn't bounce.
